Chapter 2 - Taking Turns

Why is turn-taking important for a child?

  • You set up a balanced conversation when you take turns.
  • Your child will learn that his/her ideas are important.
  • Your child will be more interested in what you are saying.
  • Your child will pay attention to what you are saying.
  • Your child will learn to talk and to listen.
  • Your child will learn that talking and language are powerful ways to get attention.
