Chapter 6 - Questions that Teach

Closed Questions

Closed questions usually require only a yes/no response or a one word response. Closed questions do not help your child develop their use of language. Closed questions do not help a conversation continue.

Examples of Open and Closed Questions

Tell me about school today.
Are you hungry?
What would you like to eat?
Do your want this?
Which toy do you want?
Can you make a cookie?
What should we make?
Is that a truck?
