Chapter 9 - Arranging the Environment

Child Proofing the Environment.

Most parents remove medicines, sharp objects and toxic cleaning materials from the reach of their children. It is also important to:

  • Turn pot handles to the back of the stove when cooking
  • Buy unbreakable glasses and dishes
  • Put matches out of reach
  • Put safety plugs in electrical outlets
  • Keep the doors locked
  • Remove breakable objects
  • Store slippery throw rugs

It is important to think about what is in your home that could be changed or removed to help prevent unacceptable child behaviors.
