Teaching Opportunity Example 1
Alex's skill to learn is to Label Objects
with His TouchTalkerT.
Alex and his teacher are together
Alex shows his interest in the orange by touching his teacher's
arm and then pointed to his orange.
His teacher responds by calling the orange an apple on purpose:
Alex uses his TouchTalkerT to correctly label it as an orange.

Merlin's skill to learn is to Label Objects.
Merlin and his teacher are together
Merlin shows his interest by handing his teacher a bowl of pretend
food.
His teacher responds by saying, "I will need a ___."
Merlin says, "Fork".

Notice that in both examples, the adult knew what the child wanted
and could have just met the child's need. But, by recognizing the
interest and then asking the child to say or do something, that
called for using a specific skill, the adult was able to turn the
situation into a teaching opportunity.
