Confirm

Confirm (give your child the item of interest, expand a phrase, praise your child-this is the natural consequence) A natural consequence follows your child response. The two of you have been interacting based on something she was interested in. The natural consequences might be getting what was asked for and attention from you about what she was interested in. This includes continued conversation; you might expand on what she said. Sometimes you give praise and you always give encouragement. You set things up so that the natural consequence confirms your child's correct response. In this way, you are increasing the chances she will continue to be successful.
