Wait

Wait (give the child the chance to do something or respond) After you do something to encourage the child to do something more elaborate, you must wait for your child's response. You should wait at least 3-5 seconds before saying or doing anything more. If you child has difficulty processing information, the wait time should be at least 8-10 seconds. This will help her understand that she is supposed to do or say something. It also reminds you not to give help that may not be needed
